So Sarah Palin just announced she's resigning her governorship, for reasons unknown. Some have speculated it's so she can devote herself to running for president in 2012, which would just be...completely insane, dear god. This is confirmed by Bill Kristol pronouncing it a potentially shrewd move. His approval is as good as a kiss of death.

ETA: TPM found the highlight of her (completely bizarre) resignation speech: "Life is too short to compromise time and resources... it may be tempting and more comfortable to just keep your head down, plod along, and appease those who demand: 'Sit down and shut up,' but that's the worthless, easy path; that's a quitter's way out."

Again...she said this in her *resignation speech.* If this level of ridiculousness were intentional, she'd be among the greatest comedians of our times.

Ha. I saw this all over TV today. And 'completely insane' just touches the iceburg on that one. ;)

OH. And, I had to mention. So my husband currently has a friend visiting (who I'm really not crazy about, to say the least), and this friend started mentioning the "best act on America's Got Talent" that he's ever seen, then described the lawn mower balancer that you had that connection to. LOL And I thought of you.

HAHA, oh god. That does indeed say something frightening about the friend's taste. *g*

AMAZING!

Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert's shows being off the air next week is a national tragedy.

I really don't understand her logic on this. I mean, she's quitting a job she was elected to do by the people in her state. How would that make her look good for running for President? To me, it's like she's telling the people of Alaska that they're not important enough for her full attention. But that's how I see it.

Yeah, I have to think (hope?) that she's resigning to do something besides politics. She'd make a lot of money as a pundit, and if she ever tries to get elected again, every opponent would have an ad about her putting herself before her constituents or asking how she could handle the job when she couldn't even complete a full term running a state of 600,000 people.

Massive amounts of lulz forever at her own unintentional irony.
That could be worse than Romney's concession speech.

Hee, I think so, although maybe not quite as bad/hilarious as that time Romney had a photo op with some urban kids and started with "who let the dogs out?"
